This course, taught by practicing artist Rita Vanderhooft, introduces the basic skills and concepts of watercolour painting. We will cover the application of washes, the building of a composition from back to front and general to specific, traditional wet on dry or wet-into-wet approaches, brush handling and colour mixing, colour temperature and layering. Subject matter to include landscape, botanical, still life, and abstract compositions. This course is suitable for all skill levels (17+) Materials required to take this course are listed below.

Registration procedures & Policies:
- Courses may be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment. Cancellations normally occur one week prior to the first class of the course.
- A full refund will be issued for classes that have been cancelled by the Gallery.
- Instructors and course content may change without notice.
- No refunds will be issued when cancelling after the first class, instead a credit note will be issued that is valid for 1 year.
- Cancellations prior to that will be subject to a $20.00 administration fee.
- We are sorry; there are no refunds for missed classes or drop-outs.
- Registrations will not be confirmed unless accompanied by payment in full.
