Artist’s Statement
“From the eyes of an artist, the mind of a scientist, and the heart of an explorer, I have filled my life with Palaeontology. I am so very passionate about the prehistoric world, and all of its secrets beneath the earth. This childlike excitement that I get when looking at fossils, and thinking about our natural world, is what inspires me to create.

“My artwork is a demonstration of just how important visual art is to the sciences – especially when it comes to nature and the past. As a palaeontologist and science communicator it is my purpose to break the scientific language down and communicate what it means in order to reach every walk of life. It is through vibrant displays of colour, and unique subject matter, that I relay these discoveries.
“My goal is to ignite passion and excitement to those who view my artwork – whether it be in painting, drawing, or sculpture form. And that is exactly why I choose to use various mediums in my work. It’s not a one-size-fits-all kind of world and I love that. I also wish to make you feel a sense of wonder and nostalgia. As adults we can get wrapped up in our daily lives and forget how a simple dinosaur can make our hearts flutter.” – Amanda Perry
